Remote control of single LED lighting point in Vittoriosa (Birgu) (Malta)

Remote control with power line carrier modules (LPL) and Maestro software

Vittoriosa (Birgu), historic town on Malta island, is the site of one of the Revetec’s latest realizations: lighting point of this site are now equipped with Opera range devices.

The project involved full replacement of inefficient fittings with new LED luminaires managed by LPL modules installed within the luminaire for a complete remote control of the lighting points; both DIM and LPM modules along with GSM modem are being used for remote management of the electrical panel.

The plant is composed by 120 LED luminaires with nominal power of 31.2W and 70 LED luminaires with nominal power of 38.6W, all equipped with LPL modules featuring reading of measures, generations of alarms, power on and off and dimming of each lighting point through remote control.

Installation also integrates 35 LPC modules, featuring plant remote switching on and off where, inside or in the proximity of the lighting points, it is not possible to individually install the tele-control module (i.e. ground luminaires, on monuments lighting, etc.).

With the installation of the software at the master control center of the maintenance company it is possible to remotely control the system: download measurements, alarms, both in the electrical panel is the single point of light with the possibility to change settings and adjustments.

In terms of programming, the town was divided into groups of lighting points: in this configuration it will be possible to remotely control different areas of the system with different power on / off and dimming depending on the time, on the occurrence of particular events or needs related to cultural and touristic area of Vittoriosa.

Thanks to the complete remote management of the system through Opera a great flexibility in programming and remote management has been integrated, as well as a considerable energy saving and a “real time” signaling of faults and alarms.
