Infralux infrared twilight application

The municipality of Ponte nelle Alpi (BL), which has long been sensitive to energy saving, wanted to experiment with the Infralux product to verify if actually, by improving the on and off system of public lighting systems, it was possible to achieve significant savings in terms of electric energy.
The product was installed on three pilot plants and lasted for one year.

The results were satisfactory:

1st plant

Traditional twilight, 365 days of operation, absorption 22179 kWh
Infralux twilight, 365 days of operation, absorption 21104 kWh
Annual savings 1075 kWh
Percentage annual savings 4.8%

2nd plant

Traditional twilight, 365 days of operation, 3435 kWh absorption
Infralux twilight, 365 days of operation, 3201 kWh absorption
Annual savings 234 kWh
Percentage annual savings 6.8%

3rd plant

Traditional twilight, 365 days of operation, 2017 kWh absorption
Infralux twilight, 365 days of operation, absorption 1856 kWh
Annual savings 161 kWh
Percentage annual savings 7.9%
The municipal technicians who conducted the test also verified that the sensor had no problems due to the heavy snowfall that occurred in the winter of 2009-2010 and that it is limitedly affected by the lighting fixtures.

The sensors, in fact, have been deliberately positioned under the lighting bodies, keeping them slightly inclined.
Given the results of the experimentation, the Ponte nelle Alpi experience will most likely continue with the installation of other Infralux crepuscular lights on the plants managed by the Municipality.
