Lighting 4.0 – The Case of the Municipality of Missaglia (LC)

Missaglia is a municipality rich in history, art and nature, it is a small village located in the Brianza Lecco area with a population of 8,996. During 2024 it has undertaken an energy transition project throughout the territory with a clear and ambitious objective, namely the integration of intelligent digital technologies to guarantee sustainability, safety and a concrete reduction in consumption. The redevelopment involved 45 electrical panels managed remotely, with the relative installation of remote control devices for monitoring both the electrical parameters of the panel and the individual light points. There are approximately 1,323 remotely controlled nodes, all in radio frequency, and depending on the road system and road characteristics, different types have been considered: LPR-Zhaga, LPR04 IP66 and LPR04 SR IP00. Thanks to radio wave technology, it was possible to integrate light flow regulation systems based on the data collected by the 3 LTM sensors installed in the field. In particular, the parameters monitored in real time are: street luminance, vehicle flow (expressed in vehicles/hour) and critical weather conditions, in compliance with the UNI 11248 and CEN 13201-3 regulations. The sensors therefore adopt a FAI-type flow regulation and transmit the necessary data to the algorithm integrated in the Maestro 3 remote management software. This allows the adaptive regulation to be extended to all installed nodes. The gateways, in turn, receive specific dimming commands for each light point, based on the lighting category defined in the design phase.
