LUWA Project - LED redevelopment of over 10,000 LED light points

The Walloon motorways in Belgium are undergoing a project to redevelop more than 100,000 LED lighting points connected to the network and ready to accommodate future autonomous vehicles.
The development of an iot application based on the MUSE platform¹ will allow to implement new services, but also to measure the energy consumption of lighting. 
This project, unprecedented for Europe and carried out in the form of a public/private partnership lasting 20 years, will also increase user safety, achieve 76% energy savings, avoid emissions of 166000t CO2, to create 400 new jobs in the region and to prepare for the introduction of self-driving cars.
Revetec has been chosen to equip the lighting of the junctions of the entire motorway network of the point-to-point remote management system: in addition to the monitoring of energy consumption and the signals of faults in real time, the system is able to dynamically adjust the light as vehicles pass by. The LPB/R device, connected to a radar, allows the increase of the luminous intensity in the acceleration or deceleration lane for a time that can be set during the passage of the car.
The system, through the LPB/R device connected to a camera, monitors the vehicles that enter the highway on the wrong side of the road: the Revetec gateway, in addition to the real-time signaling at the control center, send a flashing control to the luminaires to alert both the driver and the other vehicles of the current danger. The data of the number of vehicles in the correct direction and the wrong way is sent daily to the control center that carries out the monitoring and statistical analysis. 
The interface between the gateway and the MUSE!. platform is via TALQ 2.0 protocol.
