Tunnels

Tunnels

Lighting a road tunnel while guaranteeing traffic safety is a problem that is not easy to solve. The drivers of the vehicles come from the external environment with natural lighting that can be very high, even 100,000 lux horizontal, and consequently the tunnel appears to them as a black hole in which they must be able to perceive the presence of any dangerous situations, such as obstacles, queues or blocked traffic. As if this were not enough, the luminances of the external environment around the fornix, often very high (think of the summer sky and the snow illuminated by the sun), generate a form of glare that reduces visibility.
